Finding the Balance for Your Dream Wedding on a Budget
While in a perfect world every bride and groom would have an unlimited budget for their special day, that often is not the case. Many couples are planning within a set budget and find it overwhelming when beginning the planning process to select options that keep them within their budget while also planning a celebration that is uniquely their own.
Be Flexible
. One of the most common misconceptions by couples is that your wedding must be held on a Saturday evening to be a fun and memorable occasion. This thought makes Saturday evening the preferred day of the week by many to host their wedding. Add to this a date falling between May to October and the value of this date increases. In return it has made Saturday evenings the most expensive timeframe to select as it commonly includes higher financial requirements. Think of it like supply and demand, the more something is desired the higher the cost.
If you can be flexible on the day, opting for a Friday, Saturday Day or Sunday wedding, any of these options will provide a cost savings and offer more flexibility and options with venues and vendors. These time frames should not be overlooked as there are many additional benefits as well.
Having a full weekend available allows you to plan other activities with those who wish to continue the celebration or make it a weekend stay with you. Book a tee time for the guys and gals the day before or after, plan an afternoon or night for guests to join you as they arrive to town or prior to their departure and show off your favorite local hot spots, or provide an “Our Favorite Places” list to family and friends offering them suggestions for where to visit and what to see. Just because the wedding starts the weekend or ends it does not mean the celebration must only be during the reception.
Consider the off season
. If a Saturday evening is a must for your wedding, this does not mean you are out of luck in the savings department. Selecting an off-season date, November- April will help you stack on some additional savings and provide you that Saturday evening wedding you desire. Many venues and vendors offer extraordinary savings during these months regardless of the day of the week you choose to be wed. Here at Atkinson Resort & Country Club, we offer a 15% discount off our evening wedding packages, a complimentary onsite ceremony and waive the food and beverage requirements. This can be a savings of thousands of dollars on just the venue itself! These off season dates also offer you flexibility in choosing your own ceremony and reception timeframe, include a private wedding suite for the day to get dressed in, and offer a beautifully lit Gazebo for your formal wedding portraits. Wrap yourself in a cozy fur shawl, throw on those UGGS under your wedding dress (we won’t tell your guests) and enjoy all the romance a New England winter night has to offer while you celebrate as husband and wife.
Be Resourceful with your budget.
There is another hidden gem of savings many venues offer that we have not yet touched on. Weekday weddings have become hugely popular over the past few years for those seeking a peak season wedding. If you dream of green grass and colorful floral gardens, however you’re looking to find another way to save more of the green in your wallet, a weekday wedding is your ticket! Monday-Thursday is the newest trend in weddings and rightfully so for those who seek the most bang for their buck. Venues and vendors offer up to 20% discounts and often include many additional discounts even freebies for these dates! With some fun weekday dates coming up over the next few years; 8-8-18 , 9-19-19, 2-2-20, 2-12-20, 12-2-12 a weekday wedding is definitely worth considering!
